I always ruin meat....no matter how expensive! Can someone please give me a simple recipe for chuck roast that can be made in the crock pot?

take this recipe:

use the brine with flavors (skip the saltpeter, you can use honey instead of brown sugar if you want, I skip the juniper berry, I don't have any...). let the meat soak for a day (or however long you have), and follow the rest of the instructions. I don't know that crockpot is the best for roast, it's harder to judge timing. you can boil it on the stovetop. test it occasionally with a fork to see if it's done. use google to find how long cooking time should be based on cut and weight. you can serve as is or with mustard on the side. yummy.

Try this one. Its close to what I do, and I find this poster usually has very good recipes.

You can substitute dried onion flakes, garlic and parsley for onion soup mix, of course.

Put roast in crock pot
In a cup mix 1c water, 1/2c ketchup and 2 tbsp dijon mustard
Pour over meat. Cook on low for 8 hrs
