We are moving to flatbush soon iyh and are looking for a great pediatrician.

Criteria:

Must really care about the kids and know them, not just a chart.

good diagnostician and whatever he/she doesn't know, is willing to to ask/send to specialists

Great bedside manner for both kids and parents (willing to talk/explain etc…)

good hours and not crazy long wait time.

We are not particularly naturally minded. We vaccinate on time etc…

I know it's a lot to ask, any ideas?

I think ur not getting responses cuz there are no brooklyn drs that match ur criteria. Ultimately I settled for a practice with several drs, extended hrs and a big waiting area with separate sick waiting room. U can decide what's most impt to u.

I couldn't be happier with Dr. Beityaakov on E. 24th and N. We used him for 3 years from the time our twins were born until today when our insurance is over and we needed to switch!! very not happy!!

I don't know how I will ever get used to another dr.

"Must really care about the kids and know them, not just a chart." - very much so!!!!!!!!!!! We walk into the office and he sees us he calls my kids by their names and my kids run and give him a hug- has called a few times to follow up.

"good diagnostician and whatever he/she doesn't know, is willing to to ask/send to specialists" - I'm sure there are many other doctors that are more thorough but for every day stuff we were very happy!!! And whatever was not for him to do he sent us further, GI, dermatologist, surgeon, ER...

"Great bedside manner for both kids and parents (willing to talk/explain etc…)"- Just ask my kids- its the biggest treat to go to the dr. they LOOVE him and always give him hugs when they come and leave- he is very warm and reassuring for new mothers

"good hours and not crazy long wait time."- This was the best part- his office is in his basement.....so he ALWAYS available 24/7...never waited more then 7 minutes!!! Have been there right after Shabbos...a few hours before Shabbos he has hours for emergencies...and he even told us once that if we had a question about something over a 3 day yom tov we should just walk over to him!!!! o and at night if you have an emergency question you can call him and HE picks up- not an operating service

now what more can u ask!??!!?

Good Luck!!

Sorry I didn't have time before to elaborate. I have been using Dr. Norowitz for 10+ years. I am very happy. He is always available and calls back right away. He also never goes on vacation. (Bad for him but great for his patients.)

He has a very large family. Whenever I have had a problem, he has always experienced it himself. I also find that because he has such a large family he is very realistic and down to earth.

He is not warm and fuzzy but he is good with the kids. My kids were never scared of him. He is great with babies.

You don't have to wait long in the waiting room.

Everything is computerized in his office. Which is great if you need a form he posts it on your portal and you can print it out.

Forgot to add that he always gives you as much time as you need to answer questions.

Meets the criteria, I've been using him 15+ years. He does tend to go on vacations (wasn't in today) which is annoying, but there are plenty of PA's around if you need a culture, check for ear infection, that sort of thing. He's calm and kind and I rarely have to wait. He's cautious but not an alarmist, and sends time giving info and asking questions. And the staff are nice.
He's on Bedfrd and kings highway.
