Can this be made instead of cholent shabbos day? I would do it on a crockpot. I'm sick of cholent and would love a soup instead.

I love the yellow split pea soup but it's just soup - not remotely close to bring as filling as chulent. I don't care for Yemenite soup.

I twice tried mushroom barley soup in the crockpot for lunch. Once it came out great. The second time it came out Cholunty tasting - Have no idea why

I have done split pea soup for Shabbos lunch.
Just by Shabbos morning I transfer the crock pot and place it on the blech so it wont cook anymore.
Just use split peas and like 10 cups of water, carrots boullion or any seasoning of your choice. For precise water amount just look on the back of split pea package.
