Just about to meak an amareto cake when I realized I don't have vanilla pudding mix. Can I sub anything for that? Will the cake still be good without it? TIA

you can try 1/2 c confec sugar, 1 vanilla sugar and a tablespoon of cornstarch

I don't know about those specific proportions, but all vanilla pudding is is sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla flavoring, so you should be able to mix up a sub that way.

Would it make a difference if a recipe calls for instant rather than regular?
