If you have ikea bunkbeds, I'd like to know how you like them. Are they sturdy enough to put a bigger kid on the top? Also, is there a difference in the sturdiness of the metal or the wood?

We have a wood IKEA bunkbed. It's pretty sturdy, although it does shake a bit when one of the kids moves around. My daughter who sleeps on the top weighs about 48 pounds. We've had it for about 3 years now, and it's holding up great

When you say older kid, what age or age bracket are you referring to?

My older girls are almost 11 and 9. I need 2 bunk beds and am worried about the little ones being on top.
