At Katzefet (ice cream store) in Jerusalem, my daughter got a cup of hot chocolate that she thought was divine. It had a small chocolate log called mekupelet on the bottom and whipped cream on top. Cocoa powder sprinkled on top of the cream. We made something like it at home too. Too sweet for me but she loves it.

if I were to melt chocolate in hot cocoa, it would only be bittersweet, 60% or more.
add-ins: I love cinnamon and/or cayenne. also, a pinch of salt goes a long way.
hot cocoa must be made with milk. this needs mentioning because I've seen people try making it like instant coffee, with a ton of hot water and a splash of milk on top.

Coffee - if I'm not in the mood for a regular coffee, I'll add a scoop to a cup of hot cocoa
