I sent in p4 forms- just wondering how long it takes to go through?
When is the earliest I can start working? School is getting anxious.
Thanks!

You can start working even before you get your approval. The only way you are going to get your approval is if you go to the board of ed directly. Otherwise it'll prob take a couple of months.

How long it takes depends on your district, some are more efficient than others. It usually takes longer near the beginning of the year when they have lots of new cases all at once. The last couple of forms I sent in more recently took about 2 weeks to come back.
You cannot bill until you receive the approval, but you can start providing services as of the start date you put on the form - assuming you're confident that approval will be granted (it generally is.) You don't bill until after the end of the month, anyway.

seeker, hows the district on 89th street in terms of how fast they give out approvals? im still waiting for mine and I sent it out abt 3 weeks ago. and how do I know when I get it?
OP, ive always started before my approval and if I didnt get it by the end of the month when I could bill, I would go to the district and they usually approve it right then and there.

No idea about that one. I just know it goes through the district CSE so it varies depending on the employees there. If you sent it three weeks ago it can't hurt to call and ask if they're on it.

Yeah I never hold my breath for a call back; rather keep trying at different times. Also try email, if the email address isn't on your form (it should be) it's generally first initial + last name @schools.nyc.gov
