Funny I missed this thread. My husband grew up in that Southern town (I'm about 99% positive based on your description) and he said the bar/bas mitzvahs were disco dancing and slow dancing ... and this was years ago. I'm sure it's even worse now. He also needed to bring tinfoil-wrapped pizza to the birthday parties because none of them had kosher food ...

Do you need to be in the US? You can find rural communities with good weather and all Jewish amenities in Israel.
