Has anyone ever dealt with it? My pediatrician suspects it in my 18-month-old because one leg seems a bit longer than the other, and the creases in her thighs are not mirror images of each other. He referred us to an orthopedist where we have an appointment in about two weeks.
If it is truly hip displasia, what would be the treatment plan? What can I expect my little Munchkin to go through in the next few months?

I had it with 2 of my children, my dr noticed something when they were a few wks old, but once we did x-ray by the orthopedic wasn't as but as we originally thought...
my kids wore a brace for few wks, no big deal, theyrun hop skip & jump normally...

the earlier you 'catch it' the better

is your child walking? Don't think you can walk if it's displaced...

good luck!

My son had it when he was four years old from a bad fall and he was limping really badly though he was able to walk. I think all he needed was physical therapy to get it back in place

Yes in fact she was quite an early walker (at 10 months).
My doctor says it doesn't affect her walking now, but with time she can develop a very pronounced limp along with severe pain.
I'm concerned about her being in a cast for months or longer, being unable to walk during that time. Would that be the case?

I don't think they cast that though I just remembered my brother had something where he was having pain in his hip and I think he needed surgery and had a pun put in but I don't remember the exact details.
Did your doctor tell you anything about treatments?
