my kids have all their toys in their room and it drives me mad when theyre not all organized. they have tons of kitchen stuff, fake food, etc that are all in a small round bucket, but its overflowing and always flies all over the place. another bucket with matchbox cars, another with fake tools. too many little buckets that move all over. im looking for a piece of furniture, but I have a space of 31" and most of the furniture pieces are wider than that, and anything smaller than that is very small. any other ideas?

I actually bought a 15 dollar shoe rack. the one that holds shoes flat. for shoes but repurposed it for toys. I inserted clear boxes for the little toys large clear storage boxes for the big toys. When the kids are done playing with their little building toys, I encourage them to place the boxes in the shoe rack station. Keep the boxes clear so the kids can see the toys.

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/cata.....1123/ I got several of these and different sized buckets to go with it. That sorted the toys, but not games or books, so we just got http://www.argos.co.uk/static/.....5.htm for books but it's not a whole shelf that falls in on itself when you take some books out, and one square is for games in their room, the rest of the games and puzzles and some more books are on a regular bookshelf in the living room.

If you're okay with a little more expensive, this should be perfect.

Dimensions are under 29" so it'll fit.

I have this in the really big version in my dining room and it's a lifesaver. All toys are organized in boxes and are never on the floor, one toy is taken out at a time.

Plus, these closets really look beautiful too

I have the trofast in pine and it is great. You can choose what colour and size drawers you want and the wood part comes in all heights and widths.

there is a built in cupboard in my playroom where we keep board games. Books go in bookshelves in the kids rooms.

I also have some plastic stacking boxes with lids I keep small toys in, mentchies and the like. they are stacked on top of the trofast drawers. This is what I have but mine are coloured. (blue, green or pink)

you still have to put toys away but it helps.
