Question about advice from a respected rebbitzen.

When asking a question or shaila to a Rav, my experience is that the rav listens, clarifies & then gives either a p'sak if I am asking a shaila, or hadracha if I am asking advice. I feel bound, once I have asked, to follow what the Rav tells me.

Today I went to speak with a Rebbizen who I respect. I was looking for some spiritual guidance. Before I could explain what I needed guidance with, the Rebbizen was giving me medical advice that I had not asked for. I respect the Rebbizen immensely, but have differing views on the value and reliability of medical treatments.

So although I came to her for guidance in a different area, now she has given me specific advice on what to do or not do, that is contrary to what my husband & I consider advisable. And is not an area in which I would have asked her for guidance on.

She is a wise person in Torah, and the wife of a gadol b'yisorel, and I do not want to entirely disregard her, since she offered this advice with much blessing.

Do I need to follow her advice?
Do I need to ask a rav a shaila to see if I can disregard her advice?

I'm pretty sure you can give it due consideration and follow your own judgment.

No, you definitely do not need to follow her unsolicited advice. She isn't God.
