San Ramon is pretty typical California suburbia. Nothing special. If you have a car and some time you could go to see the giant sequoias (amazing!), or to San Francisco, or to old gold rush historical sites, or to the beach. But none of those is a short drive from San Ramon.

Thanks for your reply. I am actually flying into San Francisco and will stay in the area for part of my stay.
What is the giant sequoia?

Walking around certain neighborhoods in San Francisco is a lot of fun and, er, interesting. Chinatown, Haight-Ashbury, Castro, Fisherman's Wharf, etc.

You can take a tour of Alcatraz (I recommend going at night!) or go see the redwoods at Muir Woods.

You can take a trolley ride or visit the Golden Gate Bridge.

Enjoy!

If you're going to be in SF, bring calves of steel and sneakers for walking uphill!

My DH goes there on business hotels that he stays are very expensive There is also not a lot of kosher food in San fransico proper. I think it is one kosher restaurant , the supermarkets have food with hasgacha lie bread crackers chumos vegetables etc.

I live in the Bay Area. If you only have a few days to tour, I would suggest visiting Muir Woods (gorgeous redwood trees), Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf and riding the cable cars.

As far as restaurants go, there is an Israeli restaurant (Sabra) under the Va'ad, a new sushi restaurant (possibly only catering) under the Va'ad and a vegetarian Chinese restaurant privately certified by an individual Rabbi.

@ROFL: Your husband should check out L'Chaim Sushi (http://www.lchaimsushi.com/) on his next trip.

Anything else new besides lchaim sushi? Vaad stuff, not the SF one that does the vegetarian chinese. I can't find Lchaim on the Sunrise Kosher site.

The Kitchen Table closed Sad ;( I really wanted to try it.
