Can anyone please help me with details what to look out for in an ice box that can keep food very cold for 18-20 hrs? is there a big diff bet. styrofoam & rubbermaid? do I need to get ice packs in addition? if yes, how many would I need?

the styrofoam ones will simply not hold up & can crack along the way leaving you with nothing ... find the ones that are good for deep woods camping ... & I would freeze some water bottles or drinks that you will use later in the trip - if you have room for blue ice things take those for the start - the problem is once they defrost they will be of no use ... but pick up new ice along the way & spill out waters & change once a day

p.s. when I travel I like to have 2 coolers ... a small one for milky things & a large one for meaty things - just in case [but that mostly benefits camping since things melt on top of each other]
