Should I be worried that my baby does focus at 1 month? I watch him follow a gaze but he loses it after 1 movement and he doesn't focus. People are starting to worry me. Any ideas?

It's in the normal range.

It's more likely the baby will release his gaze more quickly on someone he doesn't know.

What's most important is how long he'll look at you.

Does he focus on your face when you are feeding/nursing him for at least some of the time?

If "people" is a doctor, that's one thing.

If "people" are not a doctor that is quite another thing.

op I think its very normal
ppl used to make me worry about my babys weight and the dr said all ok.
I suggest going to the dr if it worries you, more for your than for your babies sake.

He notices I'm there but doesn't really focus on it.

Some babies' vision develops a bit later than others. If he's still not focusing by 3 months old or so, then I would take him to an eye doctor. As of now, I would just keep an eye on it and maybe mention it to the pediatrician at his next well visit. But I wouldn't worry.

my baby was born with crossed eyes ... the doctor assured me it takes time for them to develop muscle strength - keep watching out & if it doesn't change by some point before a year old, or whenever your pediatrician suggests - I would see an eye specialist

My eyes glaze too when I'm eating. Especially when I am still figuring the whole thing out, and it's still pretty amazing that it works, and I have to concentrate on doing it right. Hold my calls.
