I got a job offer and am wondering: does $9000 per period seem reasonable? Periods are 45 minutes long, and I'd be teaching Social Studies. Classes meet an average of 4.5 times a week (due to rotating schedules). I have a M.Ed. and 2 years teaching experience, although not at the level I am hired for.

Sorry- yes, $9000/year for each period I teach. So, if I teach 2, then I'd earn $18,000, and 3, $27,000 per year, and so on and so forth. Sorry if I was unclear.

Makes sense now!

You have to figure out how much it would come out yo per hour then see if it works/pays for you

Sounds pretty amazing to me. Assume an average workday is 8 periods (let's round up the periods to an hour to adjust for p/t jobs not including lunch and preps), that's equivalent to $72,000 a year. For part time work and only 2 years of experience, that's awesome. PS can you PM me which school is offering that? I don't teach the same subject as you so don't worry about competition Wink

Is the $9000 for the 4.5 periods a week? Or is its 9000 for each of those 4.5 periods? If its the first it is very reasonable, but if its the latter that is ALOT per period! Where is this school? Is it a day school?

Sounds like a really great teacher's salary.

I teach H.S. with a masters, 3 periods, and get only 17000 for the entire year. (12.25 periods/week)

I made that on my first job, with only a BA but for TWO periods in HS.

So I agree good pay.

I currently make that per period with BA, multiple credentials, and 10 years experience

Sounds great to me!! I wish I could have a job like that! Are they looking for English teachers?

I make less than that at 3 years experience, with a Masters.
