I have a recipe for mango mousse and it requires to whip heavy cream. Not sure what they mean by whip heavy cream.

Is it Rich's richwhip topping or coffee rich - non dairy creamer (what is the difference from these two).

thanks for responses.

Heavy cream is found in the dairy aisle. It's the cream that's skimmed off the top of the milk.

you can also use any product called "whipping cream," though I haven't seen that label used any time recently. whipped cream has added sugar, so don't use that. half and half is half cream, half milk. you need just the cream. non-dairy whip topping will be too sweet to use as a sub, so if you do end up using it, cut sugar from the original recipe. also, non-dairy whip will make the recipe taste like garbage compared to heavy cream. trust me. use the cream, luke.

this is the recipe

Cuban Mango Mousse

Prep Time: 20 Minutes
Ready In: 20 Minutes
Servings: 8

"Fluffy, rich, and delicious, this fresh mango mousse is a perfectly sweet, authentic Cuban dessert!"

INGREDIENTS:
2 medium mangoes, peeled and cubed
2 1/2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1 1/4 cups heavy cream
2 egg whites

DIRECTIONS:
1. Puree the mangoes, honey, and lime juice in a blender or food processor until smooth. Whip the heavy cream to soft peaks, and fold into the mango puree. Beat egg whites in a clean dry bowl until stiff, then stir half into the mango mixture. When well blended, gently fold the remaining egg white into the mousse until no streaks remain.

That sounds really good. And worth making with real dairy cream, not the chemical stuff.
