How much do preschool teacher assistants make per hour? I know it all depends on the school/location, but I'm just curious AROUND how much?

In the end they didn't need me, but I was going to work in a place that was 10K for the year. They were originally going to pay 9K but the lady who hired me said that she told them it wouldn't be worth it after transportation costs, so they upped it.
I interviewed recently at a place that would pay 5K a year for a half day, not sure what a whole day would be.
And there's a special ed preschool that's paying 13 an hour.
Basically, bubkes.
(Brooklyn area, btw.)

I think assistants usually make 1/2 of what a teacher makes.
