dd age 8 is not starting to take ritalin
but I can't get her to swallow it
anyone have any advice

Talk to your doctor about a patch. I assume your daughter has ADHD. For some kids with ADHD there is a component of OCD that often is mostly unnoticeable. For a kid like that taking a pill can be a scary thing, for any kid swallowing a pill can be scary at first. I don't know if your daughter knows what ritalin is, but if she sees it as a scary pill that could change her that may be a large part of the problem.

very easy. give her chocolate chips to try to swallow. The first few she'll just chew and eat but then she'll try to swallow one whole and it will work
