What's the source that says that he did so on Lag B'Omer? In my view, he did so on the day of his passing which was Lag B'Omer, but for those who don't think this is his yartzeit, or think they have no reason to believe so, I am still not hearing why the focus is on Rashbi on Lag B'Omer.

Like the other four, yet the focus is not on them.

Different than other days of the year?

I read the following:
Lag B'Omer holds special significance in Boyan. The Boyaner Rebbe upholds a tradition that has been safeguarded in his family since the time of the first Boyaner Rebbe who was a son of the Sadigura Rebbe who was a son of the holy Ruzhiner Rebbe (1796-1850). The tradition is that he lights the bonfire in Miron.
The holy Ruzhiner said, "Lag B'Omer, the yartzeit of Rashbi is a joyous day for the world because during his lifetime, daas began to be revealed to the world."
The custom goes back 200 years when the holy Ruzhiner bought the right to light the bonfire on Lag B'Omer. However, since he never went to Israel, he never actually lit the fire. After his passing, the privilege was passed down to his son etc. (as detailed in Hamodia issue 509)
