I get migraines, and obviously fasting is a trigger. I used to be able to manage, but since I've had a baby, I have a much harder time.
Has anyone gotten a heter to not fast the minor fasts because of migraines?

are you nursing your baby? that alone is a reason for a heter not to fast minor fasts. either way, definitely ask.

I know this happened to my mother due to withdrawal for caffeine; she was told by a doctor to start cutting out anything that contains caffeine (even chocolate) starting two weeks before a fast, when her body was 'distracted' with other food to lessen the symptoms.
Obviously, get a heter if you can, but I wanted to suggest a possible cause.

My rav paskened for me that since my migraines can be triggered by fasting, the only fasts I need to do are Tisha B'av and Yom Kippur.

I'm thinking of waking up early to eat something before the fast actually begins. Does anyone know the latest possible time to eat in NJ? I'm hoping that will at least get me to chatzos if not longer.

I get HORRIBLE migraines that once I dont eat/drink, last long after that fast is over and cause nausea and vomiting once I eat.... Really really bad. I never got an official psak but I only fast tisha b'av and yom kipper, because there is no way I can take care of my children (or function at all) otherwise.

Almost everyone I know with migraines does not fast minor fasts. Drinking enough is often more important than eating, keep that in mind. Dehydration can be a major trigger.

I asked a rabbi and he said people with migraines don't have to fast this fast.
