Wondering if anyone here knows someone who's looking for a shadow/para in Flatbush for this coming school year? This is the first year that all my kids are going to be in school (I have four children k'h) so would love to get a job and since I really enjoy children I think this would be the perfect job for me... wondering if anyone has any leads for me.

Most shadow/para cases are through DOE contracted agencies unless they get a release (RSA) or the family is hiring privately. That being said, you're best bet is probably to sign up with a para agency and take it from there. The contracted agency this year (as far as I know) for CPSE (ages 3-5) is Horizon: 15163262020. The contracted agency this year (as far as I know) for CSE (ages 5-21) is Preferred: 17188317979. The things you'll have to do to apply (fingerprinting, approval from the DOE etc) are all things that you'd have to do before you work as a para in either case. Best of luck.

You can try Ezra Hatzvi or STEP on Nostrand Avenue, they are always looking for new paras - theyre a special ed school. There's also a new Bilingual Yiddish program opening in a public school in Crown Heights that are looking for bilingual paras. Let me know if you want contact info for any of these.

BTW, the shadow/health para info I was referring to above is in relation to working with a child in the classroom one on one (not regarding positions as a general para/assistant to the teacher). Good luck.
