For anyone who watches secular tv, I feel that it's proper to refrain from watching during the three weeks, especially within the 9 days. Can you share your thoughts?

Good for u.
I don't. Not because I'm anti refraining, but because a) I'm addicted and b) chazal prohibited music. TV isn't music.
Do u also refrain from reading secular books?

There is no halacha that I'm aware of, but anything that you feel will help bring you closer to feeling what you should- can't be a bad thing.

Second another here: I respect whichever way a person chooses. As was pointed out, this is not Halacha. TV isn't music per se but many shows and commercials do include catchy music...

Oh gosh, OP, that's a bit extreme. Reminds me of my girls when they were BY.They had friends who would put their fingers in their ears on the city bus if there was music playing. The girls would get scared that they'd done an aveira if they so much as heard a bit of music.
If your TV show has music, don't worry, you won't burn for it. Maybe don't sing along though.
