Is anyone familiar with this writer of fantasy/sci fi? Is he "kosher"? Meaning, no apikorsis? Appropriate for kids? Any romance inside?

How can I possibly know from those two lines? I saw Wikipedia myself, it didn't give me enough info. That's why I was asking if anyone was familiar with him. But I do thank you for taking the time and effort to look him up.
