Just want to let everyone know, I made this for shabbos (I used 70% ww flour, b.c I was out of 100%) Instead of the olive oil, I used unsweetened applesauce. When I was mixing it, it was very sticky so I needed to add much more flour and then I added MAYBE 1 TB of oil, but that was it. The result- DELICIOUS! And you would never have guessed there was barely any oil in it. I also used a little less honey b.c the applesauce gives some sweetness as well. YUM!

I know this thread is old, but I made this whole wheat challah recipe this week and it came out amazing. It was really moist and tasty. Thanks for posting!

I've been experimenting with whole wheat challah (or half and half) - thanks for these ideas!

Has anyone tried this challah after it's been frozen and defrosted? How did it taste?
If I bake it on Thursday, should I leave it out until Shabbos, or freeze and defrost?
