My MIL is finally coming home from being in rehab for awhile after some type of hip surgery - she's young, in her early 50s and took a bad fall. I want to get her a homecoming gift and need an idea (aside for flowers, choc and food platters which she got a ton of). All input is appreciated! TIA

Nice robe? She may want to feel spruced up after the hospital gowns.

Thanks for the idea. She's the extremely put together type and likes to shop for herself from beg to end. Even in rehab she was perfectly well dressed more often than not... I don't want to spend a lot now and we are planning s/t major for Sunday along w a nice gift from the extended family. For now it's the thought that I want s/t for her the day she arrives home

How about a good book? Or magazines?

I think this is an amazing idea, esp for a woman who likes being put together and has a simcha coming up

What about something to make her life easier - is her hip totally healed?

The mani pedi is great ! Other options-- very fancy lotion (foot, body, or hand ) or a gift card for a facial or makeup session a d you take her.

You said she got food platters. Does that mean fancy not so healthy food? If so, would she appreciate delicious homemade soup and salad?

Thanks for ideas! Keep them coming! As far as food, she's gotten everything - healthy meals, fancy food, platters...

Something crafty if she's needing an excuse to sit and relax: Needlepoint canvas, hoop and threads, knitting needles, yarn and patterns and an instructional DVD if she doesn't already knit.

Something practical that a friend appreciated in the same situation - a picker upper - the kind they have in the grocery store to reach high shelves. After hip surgery it's hard to bend and reach and this is a very helpful device .

So kind of you to be so thoughtful
