Can I sift ww or spelt flour with an electric sifter for bugs? Or will it burn the motor?

Any one here know if I can use the electric sifter for whole grain flour? Or will the motor burn out.

I have the Hemilton electric sifter and whole wheat flour just doesn't go through -- yes, part goes through, but the healthy part stays behind.

First of all, I am in the US, and we hold that you do not need to sift national brands of flour, only "heimishe" brands which tend to have been stored longer (or possibly in less than ideal conditions in the store).

So, I normally buy national brands for WW and don't sift.

I only buy "heimishe" brands if I need yoshon flour and the national brands aren't available in yoshon.

In that case, I was told to sift it, and then to manually check the residue in the sifter (all the stuff that doesn't go through).

That said, I avoid it. If I couldn't get a national brand of WW, I probably would make something different and use regular, non WW flour.

You should ask your own Rov what to do.
