Any smart creative people know what to do for a mat whose top is in fine condition but the entire grippy bottom somehow disappeared - I wash on gentle and don't machine dry, as per label instructions. But there is not one bit of grippy stuff left on bottom. Wondering if anyone has a solution for this before I throw the whole thing out and start fresh. It's only about 2 years old or so and it looks fine so seems silly to replace when the replacement is liable to do the same thing... But I can't have a slippery slidy mat at my kitchen sink.

You mean a floor mat? Buy some dimensional fabric paint and go to town with stripes, dots, squiggles or what have you, all over the back. Nice and thick, and let it cure at least a day or two, maybe longer if you lay it on really thick.

Apply strips of rung gripper tape to the underside. Viola! As good as new.
