Lots of Qs! I'd appreciate any response.
I have brittle nails. It's urgent that I take care of them.
Never went for a mani out of embarrassment the way my nails look.
So, anyone with brittle nails can tell me if a mani will help?
Anything I should know before I go?
Also, do all salons offer matte clear polish? Can I do a mani without nail polish at all?
If you're from BP, where should I go? I need someone who won't judge, she's nice and personal, not a huge busy factory, and someone who will be helpful.
I can't handle being seen in public while getting a manicure.

You should buy a Sally Hanson nail strengthening polish at the drugstore and bring it along to use for your manicure. If they have a matte version choose that so you get what you want.
Esther at Esther's Place on 13 and 56 would probably be a good fit for you.

go to a dermatologist first to make sure that your nails are only brittle.
I had so many issues with my nails and I ignored it. One day I ended up with a major infection. Bh my nails are getting better. The first question I was asked is how often do I get a manicure, since a manicure can cause problems. Answer is never, because I was embarrassed of how my nails looked.

Op here. My nails are like this for years.
Please tell me, Amother, how do you handle your fingers in public?
I'm sick of hiding my hands. DH isn't too pleased with them either, to say the least.

I was missing almost all cuticles, dirt got under my nail and caused fungus to grow. My nails tuned yellow and it hurts at times.
I kind of hide my nails. Sometimes I am more self conscious, like at a buffet, or when I pay at the cashier. Two nails actually fell off, but BH a new nail was growing underneath, so it didnt look bad.
My dermatologist gave me a prescription of a compound medication. There is also an oral medication you can take, but you have to be monitored for liver problems and cant get pregnant. I may end up taking it since once you take the medication you should be free of nail fungus for life, and my nails are far from perfect.
