For shabbos I have enough bottles so I can get by without cleaning but now with a 3 day shabbos/yom tov I'll need to wash them. I usually wash my bottles with a bottle brush that has a little sponge attached to it so I assume that's not allowed. Is there an alternative way?

if you right away fill with water (if you have hot available that would be best) and a drop of dish soap and then close it & shake it really hard, that cleans it pretty well.

Get the plastic bristle brush without the sponge.

There are bottle brushes with silicon bristles that don't absorb/squeeze out water. Those are best for bottles in any case since they don't scratch.

Plastic bristles are ok for shabbos? I think I can squeeze water from that. I've never seen silicone bottle brush.

They sell ones made out of the same material as the shabbos scrubbers. I cant squeeze water out of mine just tried. It's OXO

I used to do this and then after I would empty and add more hot water wth soup and I would let it soak for an hour bottle came out spotless

I've seen them sold at Target, RiteAid, the grocery store. Just about everywhere. The ones without the sponge on top last a lot longer and I think they clean better.

Fill the bottle with rice and soapy water. Shake and then let sit for a bit.

I've always done this. A spoonful of raw rice, with 1 ounce of water and soap, cover and shake up well. Really works.

I've never done this because I don't have gunky bottles but my mother would do this for our drink bottles as kids.
