HOw much challah dough ( wieght) is required in order to produce a 2lb baked challah?

I'm not certain if the weight does not alter during the baking process. Have u confirmed that it remains status quo?

I've never weighed dough before and after baking or tried to get a particular weight of finished bread, but I've seen estimates between 10% and 20% for how much weight dough loses during baking.

the moisture evaporates in the baking process. water holds weight. so I would assume not.

Then in order to end up with a 2 lb challah one would need to use 2 lb + how much dough? Based on the evaporation of water in the baking process?!?! Does anyone know?

That's a really interesting question! I do weigh my dough before I braid, but my challahs are all frozen now or I'd weigh them for you to see the difference.
