However you pronounce 'Yom Tov' in everyday speech, just remember; when you say the bracha on your candles, to say 'Yom Tov' with a clear cholam in each word. (How you pronounce the cholam/choilom will obviously depend on whether you speak ashkenazi or sefardi, but you shouldn't be saying 'Yomtuv' or 'Yontif'!
(My husband reminds us about this before every Yom Tov.)
