Better for how many weeks a year? It still gets hot periodically.

In South Florida it gets "cold"= 50's at night, 70's in the day, from about end of November until mid February. Sukkot this year was unbearably hot and humid, and that was without shtreimels.

Miami has average high temperature over 80 degrees 9 months a year
Houston has average high temperature over 80 degrees 8 months a year
Chicago has average high temperatures over 80 degrees 3 months a year
Scranton has average high temperatures over 80 degrees - 2 months a year..
Colder climates make a lot more sense if you are going to wear a fur hat... and I would think fellow fur head wearers would be more likely not to choose very hot climates..

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that the weather issue has nothing to do with the shtreimel?
OP has mentioned her husband wearing a shtreimel as an "identification" meant to indicate that she is Chassidish.
She seems to not want any extreme weather, as some places are prone to have.
Please clarify if I am wrong, OP.

I think NMB a is a good choice. I don't live there all year, but I own a house there, & I visit quite often. My husband wears a streimal. We've visited there during the summer months hs, as well as in the winter. He's never complained in terms of it being unbearable to wear his streimal. He davens in the khal chasidim shul & likes it very much. I know a lot of people living there that are heimish open minded. It's a very non judgemental community. The people there are very friendly. The benefits of living there are that you have all amenities that you would have in the tristate area.
Any more questions, you can PM me.
