All my jackets go to the waist. I'm perfectly warm in them. I'm sure he'll be fine.

Someone said if this is what he is fine with, then it will still be fine - but his old coat was long. With a slit, I think, but even so the solid part was considerably longer than waist length.
As for pants keeping you warm, he wears the same pants winter and summer so I don't really get that.
Sent him some links to the 3/4-length coats, hopefully he will find something that meets his needs. I do understand being able to move more freely in something not too long, but I still think WAIST length is very skimpy!
