Where to get snow(proof) normal looking boots for women? I feel like most of them are so ugly, and the ones that look somewhat cute are so expensive!!!
Of course I understand that when it comes to snow no one is really looking at our sense of style (as we stand there digging out our minivan), but I'd like to not feel 85 yrs old either...

Thank you for all your suggestions/recommendations!
What I consider "cute" is something smooth looking, like a suede, with possibly due around the top. I just don't go crazy for the totes -umbrella look

Is suede the best material for walking in snow?

Everyone knows that you have to wear 4 inch heels and a pointy toe, or you'll look nebby. What's more important, impressing the neighbors or keeping your feet dry? Sheesh, priorities, people!

BTW, suede soaks up water like a sponge. Just buy yourself some Sorrells and get over it.

I ASSURE you, I'm nothing like what you just described, and any good warm pair of snow boots I've had have been a treated suede that IS 100% waterproof the only reason I requested a specific style and suede is because its what one had till now and would like the same, yet couldn't find it. I found the treated suede was the softest and most comfortable on my feet, especially because whatever I wear outside I then have to work in all day
I was afraid I'd be misjudged with this type of post.....

I spent A LOT of time and effort looking for nice but warm snow bits and I found a great company called MUKS. I believe I found the best price by Googling them. Go to their web site and see which ones syit your needs then Google that style. I am THRILLED with mine and I get tons of compliments. Of I more computer savvy I'd provide the link to their web site but have no clue how to do that

I came across a really cute pair at Walmart a few years ago....I am not a Walmart shopper by any means. It was the only pair like it. Usually their stuff is cheap and falls apart the first year but these cute boots are waterproof, windproof, really cute... All these things very important where I live! Plus they have lived through 3 really hard winters with more to go. So even if you aren't a Walmart shopper it might pay to take a quick peek.

You can always wear a pair of boots while in the snow, and bring along a spare change of shoes for when you walk into the mall or into the office. There are also these shoe covers you can get. They even work for heels. You just slip them on over your shoes and then take them off when you're inside, but I don't know if it's really a good idea to walk around with heels covered in plastic in the snow. I wear UGGs in the snow. Mine are leather and waterproof. I also have a pair of North Face snow boots which are so warm that I don't even care about how they look, but I wouldn't walk into a meeting with them (here comes the spare change of boots or shoes).

I usually buy snow booties from Landsend. They are priced right and when they are on sale the prices are even better.
They're not narrow or sleek but I usually find a good option.

I keep an extra pair of nice, inexpensive shoes under my desk at work btw.

I'm in Montreal, so I can discuss snow boots with expertise. 
Everyone I know wears practical boots and keeps a few pairs of shoes in the office. (Different heel heights, colours, etc.) For pure functionality I bought Merrell hiking boots at a sporting goods store, and also wear Yak Trax when it's icy. The boots are ugly, but me on crutches would be much uglier. I once fractured my ankle in January, and know whereof I speak.
I'd seriously recommend anything by Pajar, Sorel, or any other boots with decent warmth and traction. And I also had three years of solid service from a pair of Wal-Mart boots.

If you live in a cold climate and want some super boots look at the Baffin brand. These boots are super warm, they come with warmth ratings and are waterproof. Check out their website. I think zappos carries them. They also look good.

I have pajar snow boots, they are not 'pretty' but they arent horrible totes type (I had those for years and hated every minute of wearing them and they werent even all that warm). my pajar ones were not cheap because they were (when I purchased them) actually trendy, but they are by far the best snow boots I have ever owned. totally waterproof, high so no snow gets in, very warm and so far they've held up for 5 years and are in perfect condition. if I ever need to replace them I will search ebay for another pair of the same
