I need to buy an iPad but know nothing about them. What's the price range? What do I need to look out for? Where's the best place (store or online) to get it? When will be best sales?
Thanks!

Have you Googled to get a feel at all?

In general, the advice is to get the latest model that you can afford, as it is best supported and will last longer.

Then, you have to think about your usage. Movies and some games use a lot of storage; pictures and videos, too.

The newest is the Air 2. You can get it with 16 gig memory, or 64. Costco has good prices. You might also keep an eye out for Black Friday sales.

If you look for older models, they are cheaper, but, as I said, many people advise against trying to save this way.

Hope this helps a little!

Is this for you or for someone else? If it's for someone else then maybe let them do the choosing if you have no idea what to look for. If it's for yourself, what will you be using it for?
Sales are coming up leading into Black Friday - Thanksgiving weekend. Or you could look for refurbished.

And don't get 16g memory; even a light user will go through that really fast. It definitely pays to get more at the outset because ipad memory is not expandable at all.

For myself... I have a laptop but it's dying and I think an iPad will be easier to carry around. Mostly for work.

Do you have a desktop computer at home or is this your main computer you're replacing? Because if it's going to be your main computer I don't really recommend iPad at all. Rather a lightweight laptop or netbook.
