I did it many times when dd was my then only. Maybe it's tacky. I wanted to enjoy what could be enjoyed. If I cared for what people thought I wouldn't be frum to begin with, right

IMO:

If the daughter is under 5 and it's for a special occasion --> CUTE.

If the daughter is over 8 years old and/or it's every single day --> WEIRD.

Unless you're matron of honour & flower girl in a wedding, wearing Habs jerseys because you're going to the game, or participating in the Walk for Breast Cancer Research, it's just plain dorky. Aside from the mitigating circumstances listed above, ix-nay on the matchy-matchy.

I never tried to match. Sometimes I have a problem trying not to clash. (I.e., my two daughters and I, or even two out of the three of us, wearing dresses with clashing flower patterns. I try to have two of us wearing solids. Or we're attending an event or going to shul, I feel like we should be matching levels of fanciness even if a wide range of fanciness is acceptable.)

My girls are small so chances are I would be holding one of them much of the time. Our clashiness would be evident.

I think if I would see this I'd think it's coincidence and wasn't planned. Now I'll be on the lookout for it though Wink
