What is the public transport system like in the five towns? Is it safe to take? Bus or train? Do they come frequently?
Please let me know
Thanks!

There is the LIRR train that goes to Atlantic Terminal Brooklyn and Penn Station. It is pretty safe, but it is not cheap ($7.50 each way, $11 during peak times). It also does not come so often, usually about once an hour.

There' s the A train to Brooklyn and it also goes to Manhatten. Part of the subway system so its much but grimier and safe, just in a subway not train kind of way. There's car services that can take you anywhere and public buses. All depends where you want to go.

I need to go from Lawrence to Hewlett. What is the best way to get there, and how long would it take?

I think the only people who use public transportation in the five towns are the housekeepers

Honestly, the best way to get around the 5 Towns is by car. If you don't drive, then your best bet would be a taxi/car service.

A train only goes to far rockaway, not five towns.
LIRR from lawrence to hewlett is probably around 8 minutes, dont know the cost. and only one train per hour off peak times.
bus runs up west broadway, I dont know about the cost or schedule.
I agree that your best bet is cab. unless its a sunny day and you've got sneakers on. you can walk from lawrence to hewlet in under an hr
