Hi everyone,
I just started working in a chassidish school and I am not at all chassidish. I would really love to respect their school and wear a shorter sheitel but I dont have the money to go and buy one. Does anyon know of any sheitel gemachs or does anyone have an old sheitel they would want to give to this cause?
Thanks so much!!

If you want a short sheitel just for work, you can find nice synthetic ones online for less than $20 or in beauty supply stores. Of course they won't last you 10 years, but if it's just for a couple of hours a week, it's good enough.
OP, tell us the color you are looking for.

Thanks, I looked at that picture and no thank you- Im 26 and I cant pull those kind of sheitels off. I looked at paula young just now- http://www.paulayoung.com/prod.....th.do or http://www.paulayoung.com/prod.....ng.do

Im looking for something like that- theyre kind of similar to what I have now except shorter and more respectful I think.

What do u guys think?
Im like medium brown/ a little ashy.

I dont know how to buy a shietel online which is why I feel like a gemach would be easier cus I have no idea if Im gonna looked like Im dressed for Purim.

Imagine you are getting a new haircut and choose what haircut you would like.
The cut really depends on what you like. Both styles you picked out look nice.

This one looks like a better alternative for a young woman who is used to long sheitels, but I don't know you.

Those are both nice.

You can have the bangs cut at a hairdresser's.

Or you can push them around until they work for you.

Measure your own head carefully.

That stick-straight look is very young and natural.

Shake it out well when you get it.

OFTEN one has to clip once, or even many times, around the bottom to make it loose enough. This doesn't harm the wig at all.

You wear a wig cap under it

You wash it in cold water with wig shampoo only. Press in a towel.

You air dry it overnight on an open wig stand, NOT a head:

Set it on a cookie sheet or baking pan with a lip to catch the drips.

Comb with a wide tooth comb when quite dry.

When you find one that's good for you, get three or four of that style. They get discontinued.

No heat ever, for a synthetic.

OP, if you haven't already found one, just go into any of the beauty supply shops on Flatbush, the women there are generally pretty helpful if you're friendly to them, and pretty good at picking out something that fits a face well. Make sure you already have a wig cap on, although they may make you buy one for $1 to put on top, too, but at least your hair is already covered. There's nowhere private to change it usually, I often just have DH come with me and guard me while I change it by holding up a jacket or something. Make sure you say all synthetic, not mixed, because often the human hair they have there isn't kosher, but they won't lie about whether or not it's synthetic. There, now you don't have to buy online! I love store-hopping for synthetic wig-shopping.
