Planning winter vacation for my kids. Thinking about Detroit. Open to other suggestions in Midwest area not chicago. Need minyan and prefer kosher restaurants.
What are the best places to see in Detroit it nearby for kids ages 4-13.
Any other Detroit info appreciated.

there is tons to see and do at the West Bloomfield JCC that is open to the public. Try the Shalom Street kids Jewish activity center and there is also a restaurant there, a library, a great playground, and some sort of zip line that you have to pay for.

If you can spend $ there's
the Ford Museum (Greenfield Village's probably too cold)
the Rouge Factory Plant tour which is loud but cool
the Detroit Science Center (I have no idea what the traveling exhibit is and frankly, there are better science centers).
If you have passports you can go south (yes, not a mistake) to Canada through Windsor and go 5 pin bowling. Ah, the thrills and chills.

Detroit doesn't have so much exciting. Henry Ford Museum is great, can take most of a day. Greenfield Village is closed for the winter. Depending on your definition of midwest, also look into Pittsburgh (amazing science museum) and St. Louis (City Museum is the best in the country for kids), and Indianapolis (Indy 500, children's museum).
