my 16 mth old dd cant catch her breath after crying. even if she's not crying hysterically. after she calms down theres a gasp of breath spaced abt a min in bet. this has been an issue since shes newborn. is this a nature or is there something to be concerned about?

You can double check with your ped, but with some of my kids I find it's a nature. My mil kids never did this, but some of my mother's kids did - some to the extreme of almost passing out.

Oh yes. I am familiar with this. My youngest would pass out regularly.
The last time it happened was on her fourth birthday. It is not dangerous in and of itself. You just have to make sure she does not hit her head if she passes out while standing up. It's nerve wracking all right.

My kids do it. Some of my siblings did it. Frightening for the mom but supposed to be harmless for kid.
