I'm in the process of weaning my toddler and am starting to feel engorged. I know pumping just stimulates more milk. What has worked for you to feel more comfortable and help reduce the milk?

cabbage leaves are supposed to work very well
you can try peppermint essential oil (diluted) topically on the breasts, but I wouldn't do that if you are still nursing, it isn't safe for babies.

I pumped a bit just to relieve myself until the milk was gone. Also, hot showers help too.

When you start feeling full and sore just hand express (in a shower may be easier) till you fill comfortable (but still full) then ice packs or cold cabbage leaves for about 10-15mins. Can take ibuprofen if you feel pain, or get red areas to bring down local inflammation. Need to keep breasts quite full to tell your body to stop producing more milk
