Yemenite yellow orzo rice from Victoria Dwek and Leah Schapira's Cookbook, "Starters and Sides"

3 Tbsp olive oil
1 large onion, finely diced
4 garlic cloves, crushed
3 tsp cumin
1 1/2 tsp turmeric
2 tsp salt
1 pinch coarse black paper
3/4 cup orzo
1 1/4 cup rice
4 cups chicken stock
Heat oil in a sauté pan over medium heat. Add onion; sauté until golden. Stir in garlic, cumin, turmeric, salt and pepper
Add orzo and toast, stirring occasional for 4 minutes. Add uncooked rice and stir for an additional 3 minutes. Add chicken stock. Raise heat and bring to a boil. Lower heat, cover and simmer until liquid is absorbed, 18-20 minutes.
Remove from heat and let steam (with cover on for 10 minute). Fluff with fork and serve.
