I don't think it was a joke. She just joined yesterday.

OP, FYI, "amother" is not a poster - it's the name that comes up when you post anonymously. Welcome to Imamother!

There is a school called Luria Academy that looks very interesting, and seems to be very focused on academics. I'm not really sure about where it stands hashkafically tho. Also its in Park Slope or someplace in that general area....

YOF is a really good school. Any kid who does well there can get into a top college.

Unless it gets destroyed in the zombie apocalypse before your daughter enters high school.

FWIW..... YNJ is the only Jewish school in NY/NJ to have a blue ribbon from the Federal Dept of Education.. In a money mag article , it scored on the top ten schools in NJ from Public/Priv/Parochial schools..

Actually, SAR also received one, albeit some time ago.

My family was like your family.

Today: My oldest sibling is in Lakewood in Kolel and would never, ever attend college. My sister flunked out of college. I am working on my PhD in a top program...

Just saying... Teach your dd to be herself not a graduate student.

Amother is an anonymous posting. NYU can choose to post under your screen name or under Amother

With schooling Flatbush is great , but you never know where life takes you , you may move out of Brooklyn one day and choose someplace else where you may have a different and wider community .

We moved out of Brooklyn when my oldest was five, and are happy with our new community.

This is not true. Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy in Livingston also has a Blue Ribbon. I would bet there are others.
