Im thinking about becoming one. I have young kids and could potentially become pregnant which is one of my concerns about being a doula. Im worried about the "on call" aspect.
Also, currently all the training courses are run over shabbos. I live oot and there are no other frum doulas around.
Any advice?

Looong unpredictable hours which means needing a sitter at the drop of the hat. Low pay for the amount of hours put in. Rewarding work. Physically demanding.

My doula charges $500 that is amazing pay considering sometimes a woman is in labor for a very short time

Doulas spend more time with their clients than just the birth (at least the ones I know do). I think they typically meet with the parents three times then attend the birth.
And I think they charge around $1k and take two women with due dates each month.
