I'm the OP of the Sleep Trainer thread. I'm getting desperate, but I figured I'd ask about the Baby Whisperer books.
I don't know of anyone around me who has it, so if I want to do it, I would probably have to buy it. Before I spend money, I want to see if it's a good fit.
What exactly is the Baby Whisper's method? Is it flexible? Does it work w/ a paci? Did you see noticable improvement and less nightwakings?
Thank you!

I was a major fan of the baby whisperer.
I didn't follow her to the letter of the law, but I liked her concept of scheduling.
(she does not believe in paci's at all!in addition to random things like bouncy chairs, but I didnt care and both my kids used them)
I really liked her ideas on E.A.S.Y (Eat, activity, Sleep, you)
I would most definitely recommend.

her theory is that letting the baby cry is OK if you're right there with them. she has this thing called pick-up put-down, you go to baby when they cry, pick them up, when they stop crying put them back down. rinse, repeat, hundreds of times if you need to. I tried it and it didn't work, but maybe she would say I didn't stick with it long enough, who knows.
she also recommends dream feeding- nursing baby in their sleep before you go to bed.
also wake to sleep- wake baby gently an hour before they usually wake up at night, eventually this breaks the pattern or something like that.
lots of inaccurate info on breastfeeding.
that's all I remember for now...

both, her name is tracy hogg, she called herself the baby whisperer and wrote some books, one of them is called "the baby whisperer solves all your problems." problems = 4 month old eating more often than every 4 hours, IIRC.

I asked a psychologist about the pick him up, calm him down, put him down. he said that is baby torture. rather calm him down while he is still in his crib, rather than picking him up. that was a lifesaver for me!
