The recipe is from the binah today. I am halving it, so need 2 sticks margarine and I only have 1 and half...recipe calls for making it into a log, refrigerator overnight then slicing it....would oil work??

I do but use a little less oil. 6 oz oil instead of 1 cup margarine.

I don't see why not, it usually works. Try googling to get the proportions though (something like "how much vegetable/olive oil to substitute for sticks of butter"). I just did it this morning with pancakes and DH said they were the best I've ever made him. This recipe called for teaspoons though and I estimated.

I use oil for practically all my cakes and cookies.
