How do I clean off the metalic taste from our kiddush cups. it makes the wine and grape juice taste funny.
TIA

It might be the silver polish you are using, or if it lay uncleaned, the tarnish has a taste. Before using it, I use some of the regular dishwashing liquid detergent to roughly go over it, so it doesn't have a metallic taste.

an expert once told me:
the reason kiddush cups have the yellow (its actually a thin layer of gold, I believe) inside is exactly for that reason. if you polish your cup inside, you will remove the inside and it will taste metallic.

Yes, get the gold inside renewed by a craftsman.

Otherwise the acid in the wine and grape juice is always going to have a chemical reaction with the silver metal. Not a ton, but it's much better to put the gold back on.

Gold does not react with anything. That's why it's there.

We had that done once with our kiddush cup. It works.

If the silver inside is corroded (from having wine or grape juice sit in the cup for a while before it was washed), you can't clean the taste away. I've been meaning to try to take mine to silversmith at some point, to see if it can be re-coated, but haven't gotten around to it.
