Can the same tablecloth be used for both if it is washed in between?

I think you could even technically use it for Pesach if it was washed- it counts as kashering- but AYLOR.

yup ... the main reason anybody separates them would be to differentiate if you are using them - say like dish clothes 2 at a time

yes. The main issue is you don't want a table cloth where hot milchigs and hot fleishigs land in the same spot within 24 hours. If you wash it then it cleans off the spills, and soap is "nosein ta'am lif'gam"--it spoils anything that is still there.
