For anyone in a similar, not-many-simchas-and-out-in-the-boondocks situation, here is my advice.
Next time you see a simple, lightweight, long-sleeved, below-the-knee black dress on Sale, buy it. That way, when you do have a simcha, you can dress it up with jewellery; if you have another simcha, you can adorn it with a chiffon throw; and when the third unexpected simcha crops up, you can top it with a jacket.

Wait a second... what does "really Hungarian" mean? My hubby is a Hungarian Jew (a genuine, first generation Hungarian) and he holds the Hungarian culture in pretty low regard...
So, what does "Hungarian" mean to Americans? Please explain, we are Europeans in Europe and have no idea about how you guys see us...

when I hear 'hungarian' I used to think of good food or nowadays more 'ungepatchked' - maybe they do the same with make-up and clothing ...
