I dont have a pediatrician yet. I am looking to see whats the best medicaid hmo accepted by most pediatricians in lakewood.

I'm pretty sure the local pediatricians take all the HMOs on Jersey Care.
A few years back, Dr. Shanik's office was recommending United Healthcare because CHOP accepts that - which is a great thing to be able to fall back on. Don't know if that is still true though. I am under the impressions that UHC is the most popular one

op- thanks amother above. is jersey care instead or same as medicaid? why would I need it ? I am clueless about jersey care-is it the same as medicaid/do I need it to have uhc?

NJ Cares is not an HMO. It is the Medicaid program for families (maybe like Child care Plus in NY?)
You still need to choose an HMO when you are eligible for NJC.

Jersey Care (NJ Family Care) is the name of Medicaid's family program. It is not an HMO, it is a state Medicaid program. You still need to have an HMO. I believe all the pediatricians accept all the HMOs, but I agree with above poster that United Healthcare seems to be the most popular one. The other choices are Horizon NJ Health, Amerigroup, and WellCare (I think).
